Brief Description of Position
The Superintendent shall be the executive officer of the Board and
shall supervise, evaluate, and direct all activities of the District's operation; he/she
shall serve as chief line officer to all administra-
tive/managmenet
personnel.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Serve as the executive officer of the Board, prepare the agenda,
and keep the official board actions and records
of the District.
2. Plan and recommend programs, policies, and goals for the operation
of the District's schools, including performance standards for pupils and individual teachers, administrators, and classified personnel.
3. Establish and maintain high standards of performance in the im -
plementation of the approved instructional programs in all schools
and follow the District's adopted uniform guidelines for evaluation and assessment of district staff as it relates to individual teachers, administrators, and classified personnel in their regular duties.
4. Plan and supervise an evaluation system to assess standards of performance of duties assigned to all personnel in their regular duties.
5. Direct the operation and administration of all schools in the
regular and summer session programs.
6. Identify and provide training experiences for teachers, adminis-
trators, and other staff.
7. Secure at appropriate intervals adequate and objective evaluations
of the progress of the pupils in meeting the learning goals establishec in the instructional program.
8. Secure at appropriate intervals adequate and objective evaluations of all auxiliary and support programs.

9. Develop and recommend a budget required to maintain a program of
high quality in
all schools and support services.
10. Observe the instructional program and support services by regular visits to schools in the District and by conferring with principals, teachers, and parents, to ascertain that all personnel are exerting proper student control and are maintaining a suitable learning en
-
vironment.
11. Establish throughout the school and community a communications system which insures a free flow of information about the progress
and problems of the school district.
12. Continuously review contemporary professional and legislative issues and reports specific information, trends, and changes in schoo law to the staff and Board.
13. Establish standards of expected student progress for approval by the Board based on assessment of the pupils in the District.
14. Participate in the evaluation and assessment activities required by the District, including periodic self
- evaluation.
15. Provide a suitable learning environment conducive to the develop -
ment of the pupil's concept of self and positive attitudes toward learning .
16. Cooperate with the Board in developing and implementing suitable activities
to improve administrative effectiveness.
17. Maintain professional competence through participation in in
- service educational activities provided by the District and in self
- selected professional growth activities; attends meetings and
conferences which are job
- related.
18. Perform other duties assigned by the Governing Board.
